Untitled Gun Buyback Project (in production)

After a mass shooting in 1996, Australians surrendered 650,000 guns and decreased gun violence for generations. Decades later, and on the other side of the world, a Texas city holds its final gun buyback before the state legislature bans them in 2025. The film reveals the absence of public buy-in for gun violence prevention in the US by juxtaposing archival footage from Australia’s gun amnesty program with verité scenes from a voluntary weapons exchange in San Antonio.
