Birth Place: Home Birth in West Virginia
Cassandra Garcia’s first son was born in the hospital and her second son was born at home. Now pregnant with her third child, Cassandra has chosen to give birth at home again. Birth Place documents Cassandra’s third pregnancy to understand her decision to plan another home birth. Her births were so rewarding that she became a childbirth educator, helping other women to have satisfying births.
While Cassandra’s state of West Virginia has a long history of home birth, it is now rare in the state. Still, a growing number of women in the United States are now choosing home birth.
